I’m New

Welcome to Warwick Baptist Church!

We love to meet new people here at Warwick Baptist Church. For over 50 years, WBC has served the Hampton Roads community and shared the wonderful news about Jesus Christ. A lot has changed over the years. One particular change took place in 2008 when our original building tragically burned down. However, what was a tragedy, God used as a time of restoration. We now have a new building and a newly restored vision. We would love to get to meet you and tell you about how lives are being changed here at WBC.

Visitor's Frequently Asked Questions

9:50am – 10:50am
Our first hour is for our discipleship groups. During this hour there is a small that meets for every age group from younger children to middle and high schoolers and also a group adults.  This is a time where you and any of your family can learn about what God’s word says and engage in a conversation about that truth impact your life.

11:00am
Our worship service usually starts with 2-3 songs led by our worship team. We sing both contemporary and traditional songs (with a contemporary flare). We have an opening prayer led by one of our church leaders followed by our time of tithes and offering. After this, we enjoy Gods word through the sermon. The worship service concludes with a song.

If you have children that are in K-5th grade, you can choose to check them into Children’s Church right after the opening two songs and they will enjoy activities and a bible lesson while you are in the worship service. You can also choose to keep them with you. It’s totally up to you.

We are really just thrilled you are joining us. We want you to be comfortable when you come, so you should really just wear whatever you feel is comfortable and appropriate. You will see people dressed in everything from jeans and a tee shirt, slacks, or casual and business casual. There really isn’t a norm other than being comfortable. Even the pastors will wear jeans.

We love children and believe choosing to attend church with them is a blessing. You should never feel uncomfortable about keeping your children with you during our worship service. Still, we also know that sometimes they just can’t seem to contain all that energy, which keeps you from getting the most out of the sermon. Therefore, we have children’s church that meets just off of the sanctuary. This service is for all children in pre-k through 5th grade. They will stay with you during our opening worship and singing, then just before the sermon, you can step just outside the sanctuary and check them in.

For security, we use an electronic check-in system. You will receive a printed ticket with a QR code once you check your children in. Printed on this ticket is a QR code that will ensure that you are the only person who can check your child/children back out of the WBC Kids area. You simply take the ticket to the Check-in station and a WBC member will help you.

Short answer….NO! Though there are some people who love this sort of thing, there are many who find this very uncomfortable. The last thing we want to do is embarrass anyone. We will not ask you to stand to identify you as a visitor. There is a time where we all greet one another, but you can stay seated or walk around and mingle. It’s totally up to you. The only thing we will ask of our guests is to please fill out a card we provide and let that be what you drop into the offering plate.

No standing and no great big “I’m New” badges. Just a warm greeting from a few people who are really glad to meet you.
